How We Work

DOCTOR’S Rx:
Most orders are initiated by a prescription from a doctor, however, if you have worn prescription footwear or devices in the past and your condition is chronic, you may order without a new prescription. For insurance reimbursement, a new prescription is necessary for each new order.

APPOINTMENTS AND PAYMENTS:
When you first contact us, you may ask general questions and/or schedule an appointment. If you have questions specific to your problem, you can first schedule
a consultation appointment and speak with a
pedorthic clinician about options before proceeding with an order. Consultations are chargeable if no order is placed at the time.

Once the decision is made to proceed and costs discussed, you will receive a casting appointment to biomechanically evaluate, measure, and have molds taken of your feet. Details of your order will also be determined.
When the order is placed, we require a 75% deposit before your shoes enter the production line.

For orthotic orders, only one more visit is necessary for dispensing the devices. Up to 2 follow-up adjustment visits within 2 months of the initial dispense are included in the cost and are scheduled as needed. For first-time orders on custom shoes, there may be as little as 2, and as many as 4 more visits before the initial dispensing. For complicated problems or dressy shoes, there will first be a trial fitting appointment where we fit clear plastic shoes made from your lasts on your feet to check for fit before we make the shoes. For all other first-time custom shoe orders there will at least be what we call a cork fitting appointment. At this time the shoes are about 75% complete, and you will be able to try on the unfinished shoes to check for fit and to correct any unforeseen problems before the shoes are finished. The final appointment is for dispensing the shoes and to do any needed fine-tuning. The balance must be paid before the initial dispensing of any product. As with orthotic orders, 2 follow-up visits for adjustments or further fine-tuning within 2 months of dispensing are included in the initial costs and are scheduled as needed. Further adjustments may be chargeable and are determined on a case-by-case basis.

Appointments are
one hour for placing a first time custom order and 30 minutes for all other appointments. When more time is needed, arrangements can be made.
